| LaRon
Landry #30
Safety LSU Ht: 6'2 Wt: 202
Strengths: A physical freak of nature. Elite speed. Excellent size and strength, and even has the frame to get bigger. Strong against the run. Solid tackler. Hard hitter, makes guys think twice about coming across the middle. Can match up with receivers man to man. Has the field awareness to excel in zone coverage as well. A four year starter and a team leader on the field.
Weaknesses:
Will need to bulk up some to become truly dominant in run support, and in matching up against tight ends one on one. Doesn't have great ball skills.
Comments: Landry is an elite safety prospect, on the same level that Redskins' safety Sean Taylor was entering the 2004 draft. He is a similar player to the Cowboys' Roy Williams in that he is a physical player but doesn't have the great ball hawking skills that you look for in a safety. Brother, Dawan, is a starting safety for the Ravens. LaRon looks like a lock to be a top ten selection and really shouldn't fall any further than the 13th pick in the draft. He is a complete prospect that has the skills to succeed right away in the NFL. |
