Strengths: Good size and strength. Very technically sound. Equally effective as a run blocker and in pass protection. Gives a good effort at all times. Will follow the play and pick up blocks downfield.

Weaknesses: Not an overpowering blocker. Doesn't have the quickness to be an elite guard.

Comments: Downing is a typical Ohio State offensive lineman that appears well coached and has great fundamentals. He's only a marginal athlete and doesn't have the great natural ability to even be a star but he should be a reliable backup at worst and possibly develop into an adequate starter. He projects as a second day pick.
