Brad Cottam TE Tennessee #86

Ht: 6'8
Wt: 270

Strengths:
Ridiculous size and speed combination. Built like an offensive lineman but runs like a tight end. Has drawn interest from some teams wanting to convert him to offensive tackle. Hard worker. A very reliable blocker.
Weaknesses:
Had thumb surgery in 2004. Missed time in 2004 and 2005 after undergoing shoulder surgery. Has surgery to repair a sports hernia in 2007. Missed most of 2007 with a broken wrist. Very little experience because he has missed so much time due to injuries and struggled to crack the starting lineup when he was healthy.
Comments:
Cottam is very raw with little experience. He caught just 21 passes in 42 career games for the Volunteers. He has tremendous upside however if he can just stay healthy. At the very worst he will be a solid blocking tight end at the next level. Certain teams are also looking at him as a left tackle prospect because of his tremendous combination of size and athleticism. Which ever position he's drafted at, he looks like a 3rd round pick. He'll fall that far primarily because of the injury concerns.
