Strengths:
Good size and strength. Decent quickness. Shows flashes of NFL-caliber agility and elusiveness. Can run between the tackles or break off a run outside. An above average receiver out of the backfield. Reliable hands. A solid blocker.
Weaknesses:
Lacks top end speed. Has never reached full potential; he shows flashes of brilliance but then slips into a comfort zone and almost appears to lack effort. Suspended for all of 2005 for violating team rules.
Comments:
Boyd has potential but has yet to realize it. He has the physical tools to make his mark in the NFL but he had an up and down college career that was tainted by a year long suspension. His lack of speed, apparent lack of effort and character concerns may drop him out of the draft, but he will find his way onto a roster in training camp.
