John Carlson TE Notre Dame #89

Ht: 6'5
Wt: 251

Strengths:
Good height. Adequate bulk and overall strength. Decent blocker. Reliable hands. A well balance tight end that can be effective as a blocker and receiver. A hard worker with top intangibles.
Weaknesses:
Below average speed. Not a deep threat. Suffered sprained MCL in 2005 and 2006. Missed 2008 senior bowl with an illness and lost a considerable amount of weight.
Comments:
Carlson is a smart, reliable tight end. There isn't much risk in selecting him, but you don't get much upside either. He should be a solid starter in the NFL, but won't ever put up huge numbers as a receiver.
