Strengths:
Good natural athlete. Above average speed. Very smooth in his back pedal. Good all around technique. Very solid tackler for a defensive back. Strong for his size. One of the top return specialists in this draft class; took 7 punts, 1 kick and 1 interception back for a touchdown over the course of his career.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't have ideal height. Goes for the big play and occasionally gets beat. Not a very physical cornerback; rarely bumps at the line of scrimmage. Hasn't played against elite competition.
Comments:
McKelvin will make an immediate impact as a return man at the next level. With some impressive workouts he has a chance to emerge as one of the top cornerback prospects in the draft. Based on his speed and his effectiveness as a return specialist he should be off the board no later than the 3rd round.
