Matt Ryan QB Boston College #12

Ht: 6'5
Wt: 224

Strengths:
Prototypical size and strength for an NFL quarterback. Fundamentally has everything you look for; very smooth dropping back in the pocket, nice quick release. A true team leader. Very accurate on short passes and has the ability to get rid of the ball quickly. A gritty football player; played the end of the 2006 season with a broken foot.
Weaknesses:
Accuracy is a major concern. As is his decision making ability. Threw 19 interceptions his senior year. Not a great athlete, won't do much with his feet. Had foot surgery (broken foot) prior to his senior year.
Comments:
"Matty Ice" burst onto the scene this past season, but all that hype doesn't necessarily translate into NFL success. His 19 interceptions are a shockingly high number and raises a serious red flag about his decision making ability - especially since he wasn't exactly playing against elite competition week in and week out in the ACC. His size, and fundamentals make him a first round consideration, but by no means is he a sure thing. He will be best suited to play in a west coast offense because of his ability to complete the short, quick passes. He struggles when asked to throw the ball down-field.
