Brian Cushing OLB USC #10

Ht: 6'4
Wt: 255

Strengths:
Has all the ideal physical attributes of an outside linebacker. Elite size and strength. Speed is above average. A big hitter that can jar the ball loose. Very productive as a pass rusher; gets into the backfield and consistently makes plays. Shows the ability to take good angles and run down the ball carrier.
Weaknesses:
Overaggressive at times. Relatively inexperienced at linebacker - didn't play the position full-time until 2007. Injuries have haunted him throughout his career. Missed most of the 2005 season with a shoulder injury, and missed time in 2007 with an ankle injury. Numerous rumors have circulated that Cushing is (or was) on steroids. The fact that he was recruited as a strong safety and ended up playing defensive end and linebacker certainly added to those suspicions. While he has never tested positive, it is still a question teams will have for him during interviews.
Comments:
Physically, Cushing looks like a future star. However, injuries and inexperience will hurt his stock. He is probably best suited as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 system where he can be used primarily in pass rushing situations. He could also be used as a pass rushing defensive end in a 4-3 scheme.
