Brian Toal OLB Boston College #

Ht: 6'1
Wt: 238

Strengths:
Very smart, instinctive linebacker. A team leader on the field. Decent athleticism. Also played fullback at times. Tremendously productive. Adequate speed. Very reliable tackler. Strong enough to shed blocks. Gets into the backfield with consistency. Does an adequate job in coverage.
Weaknesses:
Very serious injuries concerns. Missed time with a neck injury in 2006. Missed all of 2007 with a torn labrum (shoulder). Missed most of 2008 with a broken leg. Slightly undersized; potentially due to his inability to stay healthy long enough to get into a good workout routine.
Comments:
Early in his career Toal looked like a potential 1st-round selection, but injuries have derailed any chances of that. In fact, his long history of injuries could have knocked him off some teams draft boards all together. He certainly deserves a shot in the pros, but it would be tough to justify drafting a player that may never even be healthy enough to see the field.
