Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland #8

Ht: 6'2
Wt: 206

Strengths:
Ideal height and overall size for a number one receiver. Size/speed combination is very impressive. Reliable hands. Frequently used on trick plays running the football.
Weaknesses:
Very inconsistent. Never lived up to his full potential. Tends to disappear from games if he doesn't get involved early. Route running leaves a lot to be desired. His overall fundaments are mediocre at best; tries to get by based on size and speed, which won't be enough at the next level.
Comments:
Heyward-Bey has all the physical tools necessary to be an elite receiver in the NFL. However, he is very raw and never put it all together in college. On the positive side, he never played with a talented quarterback - maybe he just needs to be with someone who can get him the ball. On the negative side, he showed very little improvement throughout his career. He could sneak into the first round if a team falls in love with his potential, but I would err on the side of caution and wait until the mid-second round before investing in an unpolished receiver like Heyward-Bey.
