Jason Phillips ILB TCU #

Ht: 6'1
Wt: 239

Strengths:
A four year starter on one of the nation's most underrated defensive units. Adequate height. A very physical linebacker. Decent straight-line speed. Very good upper body strength. A very reliable tackler.
Weaknesses:
Plays slower than his timed speed indicates. Not a great natural athlete; a bit stiff. Struggles in coverage. Does not have the ability or quickness to get into the backfield without engaging with a lineman. Suffered a torn meniscus during the combine and will be out 8-10 weeks.
Comments:
Phillips isn't starter material, but could be a solid backup. He may be best suited at inside linebacker in a 3-4 system where his physical play will pay off. He looked like a potential 3rd or 4th round option before suffering an injury at the combine which will keep him out of action until after the draft. He would be lucky to come off the board before the 5th round at this point.
