Kaluka Maiava OLB USC #

Ht: 6'0
Wt: 232

Strengths:
Above average strength for his size. Has a nice, compact build. Uses good leverage when engaged with linemen. Adequate speed. Very good on special teams.
Weaknesses:
Vastly undersized. Quickness and agility doesn't match his speed. Suffered a wrist and thumb injury in 2007 and missed time during spring practice. Only a one-year starter.
Comments:
Pronounced kuh-LOO-kuh my-AH-vuh. Maiava's lack of size will knock him off of certain team's boards entirely, but he does have enough athleticism to fit into certain schemes. There are a few teams, such as the Colts, that run a Tampa-2 defense and strongly favor smaller, more athletic linebackers. Maiava is a fringe prospect, but should be able to make a roster based on his ability to contribute immediately on special teams.
