Kevin Ellison S USC #4

Ht: 6'1
Wt: 227

Strengths:
Very well built. Exceptional strength for a safety. A very good athlete; recruited as a running back. Hard hitter, but also a good wrap-up tackler. Very experienced; made 34 career starts. Excellent in run support; plays like a linebacker and may actually be switched to that position in the pros.
Weaknesses:
Below average speed (ran a 4.80 at the combine). Below average in coverage. Ball skills are lacking. Serious injury concerns. Missed most of 2005 with a broken leg and a torn ACL. Underwent knee surgery prior to the 2007 season. Missed time in 2008 with another knee injury.
Comments:
Brother, Keith, plays linebacker for the Bills. Ellison was an elite college player when healthy but its difficult to figure out where he fits into an NFL system. He lacks the speed to play safety in most systems but lacks the size to play linebacker. He's talented, but could be too much of a 'tweener to play a consistent role at next level.
