Jason Pierre-Paul DE South Florida #90

Ht: 6'6
Wt: 265

Strengths:
A physical freak of nature. Has elite size/speed combination. Has the potential to be a dominant pass rusher at the next level. Has some experience lining up at linebacker. Has the frame to bulk up.
Weaknesses:
Very, very raw. Only one year of experience at the D-I level; played 2 years at JUCO before joining South Florida. May not have the intelligence to handle complex schemes; played at three different colleges because of poor academics. Doesn't have a wide range of pass rush techniques; relies on the speed rush. Tackling technique is questionable; uses his arms and doesn't always wrap guys up. Strength is marginal considering his size; could add 10-15 pounds of muscle.
Comments:
There is no question that Pierre-Paul has the tools to be a truly dominant lineman in the NFL. However, he is far too raw to warrant a high pick. As a rookie he will be a very one-dimensional player. While he may be a decent pass rusher, at this point in time he would get pushed around at the NFL level in running situations. If I ran a 3-4 defense I would probably stay away all together; having to learn a new defensive scheme on top all the basic fundamentals he needs to learn may prove to be too much for him to handle.
