Sean Canfield QB Oregon State #5

Ht: 6'4
Wt: 215

Strengths:
Ideal size and overall build. Stands tall in the pocket. Willing to stand in the pocket and take a hit. Strong arm; throws a nice deep ball. Good accuracy on all throws. Has steadily improved throughout his career. Very good overall mechanics. A very patient passer; reads the defense and goes through his progressions. Hard worker and a team leader.
Weaknesses:
Limited experience; didn't become a full-time starter until his senior year. Given significant playing time as a sophomore and struggled (9 TD, 15 Int). Coming off a poor performance in his final collegiate game (Las Vegas Bowl vs BYU).
Comments:
Canfield is a tough prospect to judge. If you look only at his senior year, he looks like a fringe 1st-round prospect. However, judging his entire body of work raises some concerns about his decision making. Is he a one-year wonder or did he really figure it out as a senior? Given the fact that he has the physical tools - height, arm strength, accuracy - and he's shown the desire to work hard to improve, he could climb as high as the early 3rd round.
