T.J. Ward S Oregon #2

Ht: 5'11
Wt: 211

Strengths:
Strong, compact build. A bowling ball-type player who delivers big hits with consistency. Above average coverage ability, especially for a strong safety; a converted cornerback. A well-balanced safety that can contribute in run support and coverage. Hard worker; a former walk on.
Weaknesses:
Missed time in 2009 with an ankle injury. Suffered multiple knee injuries throughout his career dating back to high school. Overaggressive at times; goes for the hit rather than the wrap-up tackle. Speed is average at best.
Comments:
Ward is physical player who fits perfectly into the strong safety role. He's the type of safety who forces receivers to think twice about going across the middle. However, the price you pay for a bigger hitter like Ward is the fact that he'll whiff on some hits and give up a big play. Talent-wise he should be a 2nd round pick, but his history of injuries means he'll likely fall in the 3rd or 4th round.
