Without
many draft picks I guess we couldn't expect much from this draft, but I'd have
to say this was an embarrassing draft for the Broncos. Mike Shannahan has already
taken quite a bit of heat for his defensive line comprised mostly of Cleveland
Brown rejects, and now he spends three draft picks trying to fix that line in
one draft. I certainly understand their need for an upgrade, but they didn't get
much more than a few role players. Jarvis Moss is not a complete player. He is
an athletic pass rusher, but he can also be a liability against the run. The exact
same can be said for Tim Crowder. They are very similar players, and also very
similar to last year's 4th rounder Elvis Dumervil. Ryan Harris was a slight reach
in the 3rd round, but he should provide depth on the defensive line. I wasn't
at all surprised that they were targeting Marcus Thomas in the 4th round, but
I was shocked that they called the name of yet another defensive lineman. He could
be a steal, but he's more likely their next Maurice Clarett. This draft already
looks like a bust for the Broncos. Grade: D+ |
