2007 NFL Draft:
3. Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
22. Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
53. Eric Wright CB UNLV
140. Brandon McDonald CB Memphis
200. Melila Purcell DE Hawaii
213. Chase Pittman DE LSU
234. Syndric Steptoe RS Arizona

2007 Analysis:
How can you not like the Browns draft? Obviously Joe Thomas was a lock to be a top five pick and he will solidify the Browns offensive line. I was critical of the pick at first, because I thought either Quinn or Adrian Peterson would have been the smarter move. However, once the added Quinn, that immediately legitimized the pick of Thomas for me. Phil Savage had both players rated in his top five. Even though some think the Browns gave up too much for Quinn, anytime you can get two top players on your board in the same draft you have to make that trade. I also really like the pick of Eric Wright. Even though he has some serious character concerns leftover from his time at USC, he stayed out of trouble during his time at UNLV. And if he can stay out of trouble in Law Vegas, I'm betting he can stay out of trouble in Cleveland as well. The second day was a huge drop-off for the Browns. I don't like McDonald or Purcell at all. I felt that both picks were reaches. They rebounded in the 7th round though. Pittman can be a nice backup at defensive end in their 3-4 scheme and Steptoe will make an instant impact as a punt returner. Normally, I'm hesitant to give such high grades to a team that didn't get much second day talent, but by taking Quinn 22nd overall they landed a top five talent and saved about $40 million. He was a bargain at that point, and this could really prove to be the turning point for the Browns franchise.

2006 NFL Draft:
13. Kamerion Wimbley DE Florida State
34. D'Qwell Jackson ILB Maryland
78. Travis Wilson WR Oklahoma
110. Leon Williams ILB Miami FL
112. Isaac Sowells OT Indiana
145. Jerome Harrison RB Washington State
152. DeMario Minter CB Georgia
180. Lawrence Vickers FB Colorado
181. Babatunde Oshinowo DT Stanford
222. Justin Hamilton S Virginia Tech
2006 Analysis:
I wasn't real excited about the Browns day one, but they made up for it on the 2nd day a little. The Browns struggled last year on defensive in large part to a linebacker crew that was built with 4-3 linebacker and not 3-4 type guys. Wimbley and Jackson are ideal for Crennel's 3-4 scheme. Wilson is a solid receiver, but where does he fit into the Browns plans behind Northcutt, Edwards, and Jurevicius? I really like Leon Williams, and I don't the think difference between him and Jackson is all that great. Harrison is a solid pick up at #145, and he'll have a chance to be Reuben Droughns backup. DeMario Minter fills their need for depth at cornerback, and was a steal in the 5th round. I love the Laurence Vickers pick. I had him rated as the top fullback and he should take over for Terrell Smith in a year or two. Oshinowo will be given a chance as the backup nose tackle and Hamilton projects as a solid special teams player. The only thing missing, was that they could have used some youth added to their offensive line.
