2007 NFL Draft:
21. Reggie Nelson S Florida
48. Justin Durant OLB Hampton
79. Mike Walker WR Central Florida
101. Adam Podlesh PT Maryland
113. Brian Smith OLB Missouri
149. Uche Nwaneri OG Purdue
150. Josh Gattis S Wake Forest
166. Derek Landri DT Notre Dame
229. John Broussard WR San Jose State
251. Chad Nkang S Elon
252. Andrew Carnahan OT Arizona State

2007 Analysis:
You have to love the Jaguars first two picks. Reggie Nelson was a no brainer for them with the 21st selection in the first round. He isn't the most complete safety, but he is a guy that can legitimately get you 5+ interceptions and be a difference maker in the secondary. Durant is still very raw, but in terms of pure talent and athletic ability he is right behind Patrick Willis in this draft class. He should push for serious playing time by mid season. I think they reached a little for Mike Walker based on where he was projects, but I like the pick nonetheless. He's a big target and with some work he could be a solid starting receiver. I was somewhat surprised that Podlesh was the first punter off the board, but I wasn't at all shocked the Jaguars went that direction. They didn't even have a punter on their roster at the time of the draft. I think they reached for their next two picks. Smith and Nwaneri are only marginal prospects. They may both be forced into some playing time because the Jags lack depth at those positions, but I don't see them having bright futures with the team. Gattis had tremendous value where he was taken, but he won't see the field much. He's undersized, much like Nelson, and he'll strictly be a backup as long as he's in Jacksonville. John Broussard was under the radar for much of this draft season but he has some potential. I like them taking a chance on him late in the draft. Even though Nkang is the third safety they chose, I can't argue with the pick too much. He had good value in the 7th round and he has the size to play strong safety. There are also rumors that they may move him to outside linebacker. I really like the pick of Andrew Carnahan. He missed most of the '07 season due to injury but he could have been a legitimate 4th or 5th rounder if he had been healthy. The only thing missing from this draft is a pass rushing defensive end. As good as Marcus Stroud and John Henderson, they won't fully reach their potential until they're surrounded guys that can pressure the quarterback.

2006 NFL Draft:
28. Marcedes Lewis TE UCLA
60. Maurice Drew RB UCLA
80. Clint Ingram OLB Oklahoma
160. Brent Hawkins DE Illinois State
213. James Wyche DE Syracuse
236. Dee Webb CB Florida
2006 Analysis:
Marcedes Lewis will have an instant impact in helping the Jaguars stretch the field in the passing game. Maurice Drew is interesting pick, he will see the field as a rookie as a return man, but I've had questions about his ability to carry the load at the next level. Its also the 4th year in a row that the Jaguars have drafted someone in hopes of finding Fred Taylor's replacement. Only Greg Jones has worked out, as a fullback. Ingram is a decent 3rd round pick, although it was earlier than I expected to see him go. They needed a pass rusher, so its nice to see them bring in two defensive ends, although I think James Wyche is actually the better of the two. Dee Webb is a steal in the 7th round. I though he could go on the first day.
