2007 NFL Draft:
55. Josh Wilson CB Maryland
85. Brandon Mebane DT California
120. Baraka Atkins DE Miami FL
124. Mansfield Wrotto OG Georgia Tech
161. Will Herring OLB Auburn
197. Courtney Taylor WR Auburn
210. Jordan Kent WR Oregon
232. Steve Vallos OT Wake Forest

2007 Analysis:
The Seahawks have really been in a rut in recent years when it comes to the draft. They got a few decent players again this year, but nothing special. They gave up their first round pick for Deion Branch, and he certainly didn't play like a first rounder. They couldn't held onto that pick and selected a guy like Dwayne Jarrett or Anthony Gonzalez. For the second year in a row they made a cornerback their top choice, but Wilson, like Jennings, isn't a number one cornerback. Brandon Mebane is a decent defensive tackle, but he isn't much of an upgrade over first round bust Marcus Tubbs. Baraka Atkins may actually be the better defensive line prospect. He's a versatile player than can play defensive end or tackle. I like Mansfield Wrotto a lot, he could play guard or tackle and although he's raw, he has a bright future. Will Herring is exactly the type of linebacker the Seahawks love; he's undersized, but he simply gets the job. He may never be a starter, but he'll make an impact on special teams. Courtney Taylor was highly rated entering his senior year but he really fell off. He just doesn't have the physical tools to get the job done. They reached for Jordan Kent. He'll struggle to make the final roster cut. Steve Vallos had great value in the 7th round. He could provide some solid depth; he's technically sound and ready to see some playing time even as a rookie. Overall, they couldn't do much without a first round pick, but they failed to land any impact players. They tend to get too careful with their drafts and end up with too many role players and this year was no different.

2006 NFL Draft:
31. Kelly Jennings CB Miami FL
63. Darryl Tapp DE Virginia Tech
128. Rob Sims OG Ohio State
163. David Kirtman FB USC
239. Ryan Plackemeier P Wake Forest
249. Ben Obomano WR Auburn
2006 Analysis:
The Seahawks addressed their biggest needs with the 1st two picks. I'm not too high on Kelly Jennings, but he is a solid cover corner that fits right into their system. Tapp will never be an every down lineman, but he is one of the top pass rushers in this draft class. Rob Sims will provide solid depth on their and help fill the hole left by Steve Hutchinson. I like the Kirtman pick, although it seemed a little early. He was the most under-appreciated player rin USC's offense, and has a bright future in the NFL. Plackemeier is the next in a line a rookie punters brought into Seattle, hopefully he'll be the first to stick. Obomano was one of the best 7th round picks. He'll never be a #1 receiver, but has the size and speed to compete for some playing time. Overall, it was an unspectacular draft, but the Seahawks added some key player that should fill some small holes here and there.
