This
has to be considered a disappointing draft for the Texans at this point. Okoye
received far too much hype, and I think he was a risky top ten pick. He didn't
consistently produce until his senior year, and those are the types of players
you have be careful around. I like Jacoby Jones, but he isn't the type of receiver
that will step right into the Texans system and be a reliable second option behind
Andre Johnson. Fred Bennett saw his stock fall in the weeks leading up to the
draft, but in the 4th round he was a solid value pick. I think they reached a
little on Brandon Harrison. They were desperate for some help at safety, but Harrison
isn't much more than a backup and special teams guy. Brandon Frye could provide
some decent depth, but he has limited upside. Based purely on value, Kasey Studdard
may be their best selection. He isn't a dominant lineman but he simply gets the
job done. The Texans need a reliable guy like that on their line and he could
compete for playing time early on. Zach Diles has some upside, but he's more of
a project and figures to only be a special teamer early on. Overall, this was
one of the more disappointing drafts in their recent history. They just didn't
land the immediate help that they needed to get out of the cellar of the NFL.
