2007 NFL Draft:
7. Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
44. Sidney Rice WR South Carolina
72. Marcus McCauley CB Fresno State
102. Brian Robison DE Texas
146. Aundrae Allison WR East Carolina
176. Rufus Alexander OLB Oklahoma
217. Tyler Thigpen QB Coastal Carolina
233. Chandler Williams WR FIU

2007 Analysis:
The Vikings had one of the best first rounds, without question. Adrian Peterson never should have fallen to the 7th overall selection. I believe he is the best running back to come out of the draft since LaDanian Tomlinson. Sidney Rice is a decent second round pick. They certainly needed an upgrade a receiver, but I'm not sold on Rice being a future star. He's a boom or bust type prospect. Same goes for Marcus McCauley. After entering the season as one of the most overhyped prospects, he had a disaster of a senior year. Brian Robison is a fairly safe pick. They needed another defensive end, if for no other reason than to provide some depth for their injury prone starters. I think Allison actually has a very good chance to be the better receiver than Sidney Rice. He has great speed and could be a mid round steal. Rufus Alexander also had great value late in the draft. He is a big, physical linebacker who, I believe, unfairly fell down the draft boards. At the very worst, he should be a solid backup. I like the pick of Tyler Thigpen. To be honest, I don't think there is much difference between him and Tarvaris Jackson. If he is given time to develop, I can certainly envision a scenario where he become a decent starting quarterback in the league. Chandler Williams is a speed demon and he should be given the punt return duties immediately. Overall this was a very solid draft. They took a few risks, but Adrian Peterson is as close to a sure thing as it comes at the running back position. He alone, makes this a successful draft for the Vikings.

2006 NFL Draft:
17. Chad Greenway OLB Iowa
48. Cedric Griffin CB Texas
51. Ryan Cook OC New Mexico
64. Tarvaris Jackson QB Alabama
127. Ray Edwards DE Purdue
149. Greg Blue S Georgia
2006 Analysis:
The Vikings were all over the board in this draft. The Greenway pick is solid, and he should start right away. I also like the pick of Cedric Griffin. He is an underrated, physical cornerback that will be a nice backup to Winfield and Smoot. Ryan Cook and Tarvaris Jackson were the two biggest reaches of the draft. Cook has some upside and can play anywhere along the line, but I can't imagine he was the 51st rated player on many teams draft boards. I like Tarvaris Jackson, just not in the 2nd round. I thought he would be a solid 4th round developmental pick. When you take a quarterback in the 2nd round, however, there is still a lot of pressure to groom him into a future starter and I don't think Jackson is that type of can't-miss player. Edwards and Blue were both solid second day picks. Edwards has great size and should be a nice backup on the line. Blue is a big hitter and will be given the chance to develop into Darren Sharper's replacement down the road.
