Strengths:
An elite all-around athlete. Ideal height and overall build. Does a great job reading the quarterback; plays the role of center fielder very well. Adequate straight-line speed. Has the athleticism and just enough strength to match up with tight ends in man coverage. A smart kid on and off the field.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't always look fluid in man coverage; reaction time in man coverage is slow. Doesn't offer much in terms of run support. Tackling is inconsistent.
Comments:
Allen is a high-character prospect that coaches will love. He's a hard worker and a very smart football player. Due to a very talented class of safeties he's become a bit underrated. He has the skills necessary to start at free safety from day one and should be a very safe late 1st or early 2nd round pick.
